Rosanne & Dennis Anderson
I raise my own small flock of non-lamb burger sheep, love to knit, spin, and weave and am fortunate to have a willing husband who will build almost anything for my sheep and craft -- usually -- one year I almost had him convinced that I wanted to raise silkworms!
I enjoy all the prep work with my wool and am excited to see a year's worth of dirty growth turn into beautiful fluff - ready to be dyed, spun, and made into exciting products.
I attend various fiber conferences and fairs in order to keep current, look for new opportunities to learn, teach, and sell, and especially to enjoy the ambiance of other artists.
My work consists of using my small flock of sheep's fiber, found/repurposed fiber, and other grower's fleeces I fall in love with to create original designs for my rugs, hats, yarns, and various other useful items.
My flock has always included rescued sheep from neglectful/unwanted situations. For no matter how difficult a life an animal has had, and no matter the condition of their fleece, I can always find a purpose for their wool -- soft and luxurious goes into my garments, and rougher, more "survival" mode fleeces make fantastic rugs.
These animals will have a home with us until they pass, and it's always too soon as far as I'm concerned. I hope my work shows how much these animals are appreciated, and how useful and beautiful their yearly "donations " can be.
