My black and white photography emphasizes poetic realism and represents my attempt at expressing the ineffable.  Through these images I am trying to create gap between what is seen, felt, and known.  The work I will be showing this year represents an exploration of nature and the banal objects of everyday life that form our physical and emotional world.

Over the last year my art has taken on a whole new level of quality and importance to me.  For the last three months in particular I have buried myself in a cave of work for which I am just now about to emerge.  I just ordered two custom made portfolios from Italy and just this weekend I have created a whole new series of works that represent  something completely different for me.  Perhaps it is a response to my parent's illness and late in life chapter of responsibility, or perhaps it is driven by my students and my 20th year of teaching... I don't know but for the first time in my entire career I have shut down the outside world and have been intensely working on my art.
