I have a strong appreciation for well crafted, esthetically pleasing, functional pottery. Using beautiful things for mundane task is one way to make life special. My work is mostly cone 10, reduction fired stoneware or porcelain. That means that my work is very durable and the color often changes with how much oxygen the gas takes out of the kiln during the firing process. Often I am very surprised when I open the kiln and see what has happened. I think this element of surprise is what keeps me working with clay.

You will also find nonfunctional decorative art among my work. A person can only be serious for so long and mixing things up some keeps things interesting.
